As emPivot's Co-Founder, Thom leads the company's strategic partnerships,
site functionality, and business communications efforts. His efforts are
focused on building an authentic and diverse community and offering the best
services for visitors and members.
Prior to emPivot.com, Thom served as the communications & outreach director of
the Seattle-based Northwest SEED (Sustainable Energy for Economic Development),
leading both national and regional energy independence and security campaigns
and communications efforts alongside campaign partners.
Thom served as both media officer and field director
for Salmon Corps, an award-winning social enterprise program of the Columbia
River Tribes. Thom also was appointed as interim Anacostia Riverwalk
coordinator and Media Officer for the parent organization of Salmon Corps, the
Earth Conservation Corps, in Washington, DC. Thom started his non-profit
management career shortly after graduating from college, becoming a Director of
Programs and Education, and worked within the District of Columbia school
system to help establish the renowned Hoop Dreams Scholarship Fund and its
associated education programs.
Educational Background
Thom earned a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies
with a focus on mass media from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. At
Dickinson, he was an engaged student and campus leader, managing media and
sustainability organizations. Thom continues his commitment to Dickinson now,
working as a founding member of Alumni for a Sustainable Dickinson. Thom
currently lives in Washington, DC, grew up in Maryland and attended Calvert
Hall High School in Towson. |
